Special Message from the Cardinal

Please join me in praying for the people of Zimbabwe.

In this joyful season of Christmas, let us spare a thought for those who are suffering in Zimbabwe. Thousands are on the brink of starvation; hundreds more are at risk of contracting the deadly cholera disease, with no hope of medical help.

Many Zimbabweans who fled to South Africa in search of work are returning home to their families for Christmas, taking with them – not gifts of toys, gadgets and luxury items – but the most basic foodstuffs: sacks of flour, mealie meal, sugar, rice, cooking oil and salt.

We pray they will be safely reunited with their families, that there will be enough food, and that the peace and goodwill of the Christmas season will touch their hearts and lives.

May your Christmas be blessed with love and peace.

Sincerely yours in Christ
