This was the shocking scene that met one of our mission community workers ...
After toiling up the hillside on foot to reach this humble hut – carying a heavy food parcel for the family – she was led to a mattress behind a curtain.
A man lay there, clearly in terrible pain. As the blood-stained blanket was drawn back, she saw a leg so infected that most of the skin was gone. And it was 'bandaged' with the only thing the family had – a sheet of newspaper.
In this remote area, there is no nearby clinic or doctor. And this family was so poor, they couldn't afford to pay for a taxi to get the man to hospital.
Fortunately, our community worker was able to arrange transport for the patient and admission to hospital through her parish. But this is one of many rural people who suffer, and sometimes die, through lack of medical care.
Please will you play the part of The Good Samaritan ... by donating now towards the cost of basic medical kits for our new Parish Nurse project.
Disinfectant, swabs, antiseptic ointment, bandages, painkillers, cough syrup and rehydration sachets - as well as blood pressure monitors, test kits for diabetes, stethoscopes and thermometers are all needed.
If you can see Jesus in the face of someone lying sick and suffering, please consider making a gift online now to bring hope and healing to our mission people.
